Santiago Hernandez
b. Havana, Cuba
I am a versatile teacher with a thorough knowledge of art history, a solid grounding in both traditional and contemporary concepts and practice, and a deep respect for the creative process in general. In my teaching I strive to balance historical and contemporary concerns while addressing the appropriate formal, technical and conceptual needs of Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced level students. My goal as a teacher is to foster an understanding of the techniques, principles and elements used in art, create a platform for personal creativity, problem solving and self-expression, and foster personal growth, independence and critical thinking skills in my students.
